Pin It Fancy

Comme des Garçons is well-known for their cutting-edge fragrances: sometimes this means creating novel structures and sometimes this means resurrecting a long-forgotten accord. Green fragrances had their heyday decades ago: Bandit and Vent Vert (both by Germaine Cellier) pioneered the idea of using green notes as primary components of a fine fragrance and many others soon followed. However, the style fell out of fashion in the early 1980s at the hands of sweet chypres and sweeter orientals. Fast-forward to 2014 and green fragrances seem to be coming back into fashion. Over the past several years, niche houses seem to have picked up the idea again, although, for the most part the results have been half-hearted. Then along comes Comme des Garçons with Serpentine and the world finally has a serious green fragrance that can stand alongside the fallen classics like Vent Vert. Get this before it disappears.
