Description:  François son Jean Rancé devoted this perfume to François Charles, Napoleon's only son.  It was hoped that the young prince could repeat his majestic father's feats and - like him - bring the great ideals France's victories had introduced throughout Europe to triumph. Today we can admire the sobriety and immediacy of this perfume, the intensity of its fragrance, and its continuous variation in notes. It is like walking in a forest through a gradually changing sequence of plants, flowers and wild herbs, and smelling their different successive scents. It is a very manly perfume which goes straight to the hearts of nature lovers.

Longevity and layering

Did you know that fragrance longevity can be greatly increased by beginning your routine with clean, moisturized skin? We recommend starting with a shower gel or soap that is either neutrally scented or in the same scent family as your perfume. Then, add a moisturizer and/or body oil and allow it to soak in. Finally, add your fragrance on top. This added moisture barrier will hold the scent molecules for more time, allowing the fragrance to last longer. Think of it as a primer for perfume!
You can also layer scented products (including lotion, soap, body oil, perfume oil, and other alcohol-based perfumes) to add depth, intensity, or a variety of other facets to your final fragrance. We suggest beginning with similar scents (such as two different citrus or vanilla fragrances) and testing those layering combinations, then branching out to more experimental pairings. Feeling stuck?
